Tripleton® Devices Track Barclaycard Cycle Challenge in USA.
Tripleton® is proud to announce it's association with and technical support for The Barclaycard Cycle Challenge 2007.
This challenge, to cycle across the United States, is inspired by Jane Tomlinson, who battled cancer for seven years raising over œ1 million for charity. Jane sadly passed away in September 2007, finally losing her remarkable fight for life.
Eight cyclists from Barclaycard will attempt to emulate one of Jane's greatest achievements. Crossing the United States, from West Coast to East, by pedal power alone. Starting in San Diego on the west coast of America the challenge will see the team climb from sea level to over 8,000 feet and back down again, across mountains and deserts through heat and humidity, arriving in St Augustine, Florida, over 3,000 miles later.
The Challenge is scheduled to begin on the 29th September and you can follow their progress over the forty seven day route by following this link to the Dynamic Map. The technical challenge. To provide near real-time tracking of the team as they move across some of the harshest terrain in the world. The solution combines the talents of Tripleton, providing the on-board hardware and Track A Phone who provide Vodafone's Location Based Tracking System Track A Sim. This is a Tracking GIS solution that collates and reports the output from the Tripleton® devices. Usable across the world, the size; features and robust and reliable design of Tripleton's asset trackers make them ideal for such a challenge. The location data is passed by our tracker to the platform via GPRS. This ensures that location updates and other information happen reliably and in near real time. Finally, all of this will happen seamlessly with Vodafone UK SIM's roaming across the many networks that the units will encounter crossing the United States.
The Track A Sim GIS engine is a tried and trusted solution currently tracking many thousands of lone workers, vehicles and other moving assets in the UK and beyond.
